Advertising scope

How a compliant digital advertising service should be scoped before payment.

A professional digital advertising service should make the work understandable before a customer pays. The scope should explain the objective, platform, deliverables, exclusions, timeline, communication method, and realistic limits of the service.

Many individuals, creators, and independent professionals buy advertising help because they want growth, but the service being sold should still be clear. A responsible agency or media company should not sell vague promises such as guaranteed revenue, guaranteed leads, guaranteed ranking, guaranteed platform approval, or instant campaign success. Advertising work can improve planning, creative quality, campaign structure, website clarity, and reporting. It cannot remove market risk or control every platform decision.

Start with the customer objective

The first part of a compliant scope is the customer objective. A campaign built for brand awareness is different from a campaign built for lead generation, search demand, product education, or retargeting. The service provider should ask what the customer sells, who the target audience is, what page visitors will land on, and what action counts as success.

Without this information, the campaign can become a collection of disconnected tasks. A customer may pay for ads, creative, or setup work without knowing whether the offer is ready. Norvadex prefers to review the objective first because the right service depends on the client’s situation.

Explain the deliverables in plain language

A good scope should name the deliverables. For paid media, that may include campaign structure, audience recommendations, creative direction, ad copy notes, tracking review, launch checklist, and reporting framework. For website work, it may include homepage sections, service pages, pricing presentation, contact forms, policy placement, responsive layout, and on-page SEO structure.

Plain deliverables protect both sides. The customer understands what they are buying, and the service provider has a clear standard for completion. A scope that only says “marketing package” is not enough for a serious buyer.

Separate service fees from ad spend

Advertising spend is not the same as an agency service fee. A platform such as Meta, TikTok, or Google may charge the client separately for media delivery. Norvadex service fees cover planning, setup support, creative direction, content, website work, reporting, or other scoped services. They do not include platform ad spend unless a written agreement says otherwise.

This separation matters for customer clarity and payment review. It shows who receives each payment, what is being purchased, and which costs are controlled by the service provider.

Describe exclusions honestly

Professional scopes also explain what is not included. For example, a campaign setup package may not include video production, influencer sourcing, daily account management, ad spend, platform approval, or legal review. A website package may not include hosting, domain purchase, premium plugin licenses, custom application development, or guaranteed SEO rankings.

Exclusions are not negative. They make the service more credible because the customer can see the boundaries before buying.

Use responsible disclaimers

A digital advertising disclaimer should be specific enough to be useful. The service provider should explain that outcomes depend on budget, market competition, platform rules, landing-page quality, creative quality, tracking, audience demand, and other factors outside direct control. This does not weaken the offer. It makes the offer more professional.

Norvadex disclaimer: Norvadex LLC does not guarantee platform approval, advertising performance, rankings, traffic, leads, sales, revenue, or payment-processor approval. Norvadex does not sell online traffic, followers, engagement, or artificial activity.

What a customer should ask before buying

  • What exactly will be delivered?
  • Which platform is included?
  • Is media spend separate?
  • What does the client need to provide?
  • What happens after launch?
  • How are refunds or cancellations handled?
  • What results are not guaranteed?

When those questions are answered in writing, the customer can make a cleaner decision. Norvadex structures services this way because digital advertising works best when expectations are realistic from the beginning.
